Trump Administration Reportedly Preparing Ban on New Chinese AI Data Center Components

The Trump administration is reportedly planning new restrictions on Chinese technology used in artificial intelligence data centers as part of its broader effort to strengthen the security of critical AI infrastructure.

According to a Reuters report, the White House is preparing measures that would ban the import of newly developed Chinese optical transceivers, essential networking components that enable ultra fast data transmission between AI chips inside modern data centers.

US Tightens AI Infrastructure Security

The proposed restrictions are being developed by the Federal Communications Commission and are expected to be unveiled later this year. If implemented, the rules would prevent future imports of these Chinese made components.

US officials are reportedly concerned that the devices could be used to compromise sensitive information, deploy malicious software, or disrupt operations at data centers powering some of the world’s most advanced AI systems.

Divyansh Kaushik, an AI policy expert at Beacon Global Strategies, said optical transceivers present legitimate security risks, adding that AI companies are increasingly focused on securing their data center supply chains from the outset.

The report noted that the proposed measures reflect lessons learned from the Huawei controversy, when Chinese telecommunications equipment became deeply integrated into US infrastructure, making its removal both expensive and difficult.

China Signals It Will Respond

Neither the White House nor the FCC commented on Reuters’ report. However, the Chinese embassy in Washington urged the United States to listen to the concerns of businesses in both countries and stop targeting Chinese companies with sanctions and public accusations.

Chinese officials also warned that Beijing would take all necessary measures in response to any restrictions imposed by the Trump administration.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized his goal of maintaining US leadership in both artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency, making technological competitiveness and national security central priorities of his administration.#crypto#cryptonews https://coinsignals.net https://t.me/coinsignalpublic
